State Committees are an institutionalized mechanism for broad basing the initiative and linking it to the ground reality. State Committees have been envisaged as decentralized local bodies, which actively promote the process of Credibility Alliance in their respective states.

What is the structure of a State Committee?

  1. A State Committee should comprise of member organizations. The State Committee is formed of zonal coordinators (representatives) from different zones (a zone is formed of cluster of districts or blocks) of the State.
  2. The Zonal Committee is formed of members of that particular zone who elect a representative to represent the zone in the State Committee.
  3. The Zonal Coordinator represents his/her particular zone in the State Committee meeting
  4. The Committee should have three office bearers. A) Chairperson, B) Secretary and C) Treasurer
  5. The representative of State Committee will elect/nominate the three office bearers
  6. The Chairperson will represent the state in the Annual General Body Meeting. In his absence secretary will perform his role

What are the roles of State Committee?

  1. Elect a representative to represent the state at the Annual General Body Meeting
  2. Meet as frequently and at as many places in the state to discuss/resolve issues
  3. Enroll endorsement for the CA Process – Eminent People, Funding Agencies and Business Entities (Corporate Social Responsibility)
  4. Promote Accreditation
  5. Training interventions to enable member organizations to meet Norms
  6. Fundraising
  7. Investigate Complaints
  8. Liaison and advocacy with State Government and Media

The Norms Committee started functioning in December 2006 comprising of members of senior executives from various sections of the Voluntary Sector, Consultants and Credibility Alliance Staff Members. Committee was interested in reviewing the Norms in the year 2010-11, and the process is still in progress.

The Norms Committee has been constituted to –

  1. Review and revisit CA Norms and with focus on developing Norms for programme evaluation/performance appraisal
  2. Suggest suitable amendments and elaborations to make Norms more appropriate and germane to current requirements
  3. To develop criteria for programme evaluation for Voluntary Sector
  4. Contextualizes the criteria for programme generic evaluation to different sector in the field of development sector
  5. To develop the scope and framework for application of the criteria
  6. To specify the nature of trained personnel to undertake the assessment

The Central Accreditation Committee is a high-level group comprising of Credibility Alliance Board Members and outside experts, who receive Assessors Reports and take a holistic view on the recommendations considering all relevant factors. For this purpose, a panel of experts is maintained, of men and women of eminence and integrity, possessing skills in the areas of Management, Finance and Social Work. The group is chaired by a senior member of the Governing Board of the Alliance and is serviced by the Executive Director. The group meets periodically as and when a bunch of assessment reports have been received and are ready for final processing.
